Lucas began training in 2012, taking the train from Milwaukee to Chicago every week to practice at the Japanese Culture Center in Chicago. In 2023, Lucas took Taikaisho at the Nippon Iaido Renmei Zenkoku Taikai, and was also awarded Men no Maki in June of that year. Lucas teaches in Milwaukee and makes regular visits to the Japanese Culture Center for continued training.
