The Japanese Culture Center – Tenshinkan Dojo has been home to Mugai Ryu Iaihyodo in the Midwest region of the United States since 2001. As a branch, or Shibu, of the Mugai Ryu Iaihyodo Ryuōkai, the Japanese Culture Center has hosted teachers from Japan on numerous occasions.

The America Midwest Shibu comprises the Atlanta, Chicago, and Milwaukee Dojo. Students who join any of these dojo will also be joining the Mugai Ryu Iaihyodo Ryōkai, a worldwide federation of iaido practitioners, teachers, and training centers.
